Here is the tentative route from San Diego to Inuvik, NT, Canada, and back I plan to ride this July.
And if I have the ganas* when I reach the northernmost drivable city in Canada, I may go ahead and ride up to Deadhorse/Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to see the Arctic from the US, too.

And, yes…before you ask, this is one of those Bucket List things… I say it's never too late to have a happy childhood.
As Mark Twain put it: Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed with the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
* Spanish for desire, wherewithall, etc...
Wow, that will be epic. So how long do you figure it will take overall? A good excuse for a vacation that is for sure.
ReplyDeleteI think Alaska is on everyone's bucket list.
I have 31 days off (yes, I know that sounds crazy but the powers to be said yes to my crazy request!).
ReplyDeleteWow! Way outta my league! You men and your desire for torrential, ball busting riding. . . :)
ReplyDeleteMore power to you! You're a better man than I, Gunga Din!
I had a friend, Carmelita, who passed away right before we left last year. She told me something similar to what Mr.Twain had to say. She looked me in the eye, held my hands, knowing she was terminally ill and said, "If you want to do something, DO IT. Don't wait. You'll regret the things you didn't do."
I'm hanging on to that wisdom for the rest of my life, and to her spirit.

You know, Tina, your friend, Carmelita, was right. And your man gave me some great pointers from his Alaska ride! See ya soon.
DeleteAwesome! I am loosely planning on an Alaskan tour this summer but it depends greatly on how my RA is doing by summer. Are you going solo? I wish you the best and want to see pictures.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see you up there, Terry! Am traveling with a friend, local rider Dan, who will be on his shiny new BMW R1200GS. I predict it'll come back a little less shiny...
