Coldfoot to Chena Hot Springs

Well, the Dalton Highway was good to us today.  The road was dry and the sun was out.  Temps started in the 50’s and had reached the mid-70’s by the time we ended the day.  Fairly easy ride all the way down the road.

We stopped for fuel and a break at the Yukon Crossing but really just pushed along hoping to reach the Chena Hot Springs by 5pm.  And we did.

Just before the hot springs, we stopped along the road to watch a big moose grazing out in the middle of a pond.  Just beautiful.

Two sore riders checked into the resort, grabbed beers in the bar, got out of our very dusty, very dirty riding gear and headed right for the springs.

While the water was mostly 130 degrees, some of the areas where the springs come out are 150 or hotter.  The other guests were from all over the US, Alaska…and the rest of the world.   Everyone was chill and enjoying the laid back environment.

Soaking in the hot springs, I felt the day’s fatigue fade away.  Sore muscles were no match for the healing waters.

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh……

Only 300 miles today.

More to follow, including photos when the wi-fi is better.
